Sleeping Tips For
Our Mums...
Here are some tips from our readers and also customers of Goodnight Maternity Pj's...
1) Having a warm glass of water before going to bed (not too big a glass, we go to the toilet enough already!). - Thelma Riverstone QLD.
2) Snuggle up to a hot water bottle in winter, helped my leg cramps and was nice and cosie, dont leave it on your tummy though. - Mia Thompson WA.
3) I believe a warm/hot lemon cut in a mug of water always helped me sleep. - Trudy Wilson NSW.
4) I bought one of those big pillows like a snake, curled up to it and it was real comfy around my belly. I always slept on my tummy before I fell pregnant and found it hard to sleep on my side when my belly got too big, but the pillow really helped. - Jodie Cooper NSW.
5) I used to get my loving hubby to give me a foot massage before I went to bed ! If your lucky like me it could work for you too :) Naomi Zen QLD.
6) Herbal tea worked for me but I made sure I went to the toilet before I went to sleep for the night. - Trisha Night SA.
7) I was pregnant in winter and found if I didnt rug up I got leg cramps and foot cramps which were really painful. I had to make sure I had warm Pj's on and socks that werent too tight to sleep in.
8) I would lay awake at night thinking of baby names, so I kept a notebook beside the bed and I would write them down as I thought of them, made me tired too... Chelsea Roumer WA
9) I would lay in bed and think of my breathing, kind of prepared me for the birth also. Just took slow breaths and each breath I would visualise a beautiful baby that I would see in the not to distant future ! - Sally Andrews NSW
10) I would do some gentle stretching in bed before I slept, my friend showed me some pilates, I did some of those but very gently ! Would also help my leg cramps when I slept. Peta Lincon NSW
11) The warm glass of water helped me, or milk... which also helped with my intergestion when I laid down :) Kelly Lukas WA
12) I read up on having the baby before I went to sleep, I found the book Baby Love was really Fantastic and helped a lot also when baby was born. I dont think you can ever bee too prepared for our little miracles ! Joanne Jacobson QLD
13) When I had trouble sleeping I would organise the baby room. Some nights I was in the whole 'organising' mode for hours, wanting everything just perfect, now that baby is here I wish I could have those extra hours to myself again, If us new mums could put 'sleep' in a bottle to sell it we would all be millionares !! Debbie Zera NSW
14) If I had trouble sleeping mainly in the last trimester, I would put a lavender heat pack under my pillow, the fragrance was lovely and calmed my mind to give me sweet dreams. Melinda Swimma WA
15) I read up on baby things before I go to bed. Nora Spence NSW
16) I call my mother, that always makes me tired after hours of our chatting. Kristie Mangus WA
17) Purchase a 'sleep pillow' from Goodnight Maternity, they are very cheap for what they are and the pillowsleep is like no other. So comfortable to sleep on and it supports your growing belly, it did for me and now I use it on my bed to breastfeed my baby, it was a briliant buy ! Kristy Knowles NSW

SUGGESTED READING - For Sleep Issues...
"Helping Your Baby To Sleep" By Anni Gethin & Beth Macgregor. This is a really good book that offers gentle soothing options to settle your baby to sleep other than having to use the whole "Control Crying" option.
"Challenging Children - Success with Homeopathy" By Linlee Jordan. If you have a baby with reflux or sleep problems, or a toddler who is throwing terrifying tantrums, your probably desperately looking for help. Your first point of call would probably be your GP or Pediatrician, but this book looks specifically at homeopathy and the success some children and parents have had through using homeopathy treatment.
"Baby Love" By Robin Barker. This book is wonderful for all things to do with babies, including sleep. A great book to have for any new mum with lots of useful information.
